Commencement Ceremony 24 July, 2015

General Instructions

 

Dear Students Congratulations. It is a great pleasure to provide you with the rehearsal and ceremony instructions for one of the most important days of your life.

Rehearsal is required for all students planning to participate in the Commencement ceremony. It is extremely important that you will be on time. It is considered a formal event. Mark this date on your calendar and do not be late, your promptness is encouraged so that we can begin and end in a timely manner.

Absentees during the rehearsal dates, mentioned above, will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.

 

Each graduate must show his student ID during the Rehearsal and on the Commencement Day.

Students are divided in two groups A and B:

Group A: Rehearsal schedule on Monday, July 20, 2015

All students from the faculty listed below are requested to be present at the rehearsal held Monday, July 20, 2015 on the main campus of Hadat-Baabda.

All students from the faculty/Institute listed below are requested to be present at the rehearsal held Tuesday, July 21, 2015 on the main campus of Hadat-Baabda.

      I.            Withdrawal of the invitation cards

a.     Group A: Monday, 20 July, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m.

b.     Group B: Tuesday, 21 July, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m.

 

   II.            Rehearsals Times and dates

a.     Group A Rehearsal:

Ø Date & Time : Monday, 20 July, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. sharp

Ø Place: UA Library, main campus Hadat-Baabda

 

b.     Group B Rehearsal:

Ø Date & Time : Tuesday, 21 July, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. sharp

Ø Place: Room F. Louis Rohban, main campus Hadat-Baabda

 

III.            Rehearsal General Instructions

Ø Do not wear caps and gowns at the rehearsal

Ø Each student will be assigned a line number. You will receive your number during the withdrawal of your invitation cards on your rehearsal date.

Ø Each student will take his place in the assembly assigned rooms according to the number given to him by the responsible.

Ø Questions and answers - special announcements

Ø Line up: Students line up with alphabetical order or inverse, according to the instructions of the responsible. (Line to be respected imperatively)

Ø Procession and Seating

Ø Diploma distribution

Ø Casual photo session

Ø Rehearsal is expected to end by 7:00 p.m.

 

IV.            Clothing Requirements

Ø Women, wear colors pants (no jeans or legging), a dress or skirt (avoid long dresses and very short skirts) that goes with the gown color. If garment is visible below the gown, a dark color must be worn. No casual sandals, flip flops, western boots, or athletic shoes. (Avoid stiletto heels or high heels)

 

Ø Men, wear a white colored shirt with a tie under the robe, long dark trousers, and dark shoes and socks. No sandals, flip flops, or athletic shoes.

Your graduation celebrates the accomplishment. It is important that the graduate’s cap and gown represent your dedication. Wear it with pride. The tassels must be on the right side before the degrees are conferred and shifting to the left after degree is awarded.

   V.            Instructions for Commencement Day

Ø Ceremony Location: Université Antonine Main Campus/Outdoor stadium

Ø Arrive on campus by 4:30 p.m.

Ø Time of the ceremony: 7:30 p.m.

Ø Wear your caps and gowns

Ø Professional photographers will be available to photograph each degree candidate before the ceremony (between 4:30 and 6:30), and during the ceremony.

Ø Assembly promptly by 6:45 p.m. in the Library and F. Louis Rohban room according to your group.

Ø Take your seat according to your number assigned and wait responsible instructions.

Ø The procession will leave rooms at 7:15 sharp. Remain in single-file and alphabetical order at all times.

Entrance of candidates

Ø The commencement exercises begin promptly at 7:30 p.m. When the music begins, prospective graduates enter the place of the ceremony.

Ø The procession must be formal. Respect the distance (arm length between each student)

Ø Moved into position and take your place according to the directions given earlier. Seats at the place of the ceremony are numbered so memorized your number.

Ø Upon arrival at your seat, please remain standing until you are told to be seated.

 

 

 

Receiving Diplomas

Ø At the time of conferring degrees, the person calling out the names will make an introductory statement. Following that statement, the first row of candidates will move into the assigned position. Other rows remain seated until it is their turn. You will be directed when it is time to stand and move into position.

Ø You will first form a line and then move to a designated stopping point. As your name is called, you are to walk toward the tribune to receive your diploma.

Ø Shake hands with the UA President, Dean of your faculty and others guests invited to the floor with the right arm.

Ø Receive your diploma cover with the left hand and be sure to have your photograph taken.

Ø After receiving your diploma cover, please return to your seat and be seated.

Ø Once all diplomas are received, you will be given the sign to remove your caps.

Ø Graduates will be honored at a reception immediately following the commencement service. Family are also cordially invited.

Ø End of the ceremony

 

VI.            Guests

Ø  Number of invited guests per graduate is limited to 3

Ø  Invitation cards are strictly required at the entrance

Ø  Parking is available for parents. They will be guided to their seats by the UA staff and hostesses

Ø  Guests should arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the ceremony

Ø  Guests will be installed according to the first come, first served

Ø Guests cannot approach the stage to take photos. They can take photos from their seats. 

 

Thank you for helping us making the ceremony a memorable one for all. Please note:

 

Ø  While a spirit of joy and enthusiasm is encouraged, the commencement is a dignified academic event and we must show respect during the whole ceremony.

Ø  Cell phones must be turned off for the duration of the exercise.

Ø  Noise-making are prohibited.

Ø  No diplomas are awarded at this ceremony. Only diploma cover with a congratulations note.

Ø  Please leave all personal belongings (purses, jackets) with a family member, or in your cars prior to arrival.

Ø  Rest rooms are available but the university is not responsible for personal items:

-   G.1.5 for Women

-   G.4.6 for Men

All those that have been approved to sit for a 2nd chance exam, scheduled for 21, 22, and 23 July 2015 (academic year 2014/2015) must note the following;

 

·        All BA students must pay $50 for each 2nd chance exam

·        All MSG-MSB-MBA students must pay $100 for each 2nd chance exam
